Westphalian Open Air Museum of Rural Life at Detmold

Since 1996, Westphalian Open Air Museum of Rural Life and the German Draught Horse Association IGZ have been organising the event “PferdeStark” (literally ‘strong horse’). This biannual celebration of the working horse shows draught horses at work
in the field and in the forest,
at logging,
driving,
pulling and
ploughing competitions and
displays in the big show ring.
Unique in Europe is the focus on modern draught horse use and modern horsedrawn technologies.
